We found out my cousin was going to be a Daddy recently and assisted his sister and my cousin, Courtney (featured here a bit), in throwing the expecting couple a baby shower! The both of them are quite the world travelers and have some amazing stories of their adventures. For the first year, Mommy and Daddy will be jet-setting off throughout the world and so we thought it was only fitting that the theme be for a tiny jet-setter in the making!
We had a ton of fun helping Courtney plan this and she did an AWESOME job! And per usual, it was just nice to get together with family and reminisce about our hooligan pasts. 😉
One of the things I made with the help of my sister was a “Mommy’s Little Knockout” onesie.
I started out with a basic 3-6 Month onesie. Michelle helped me by cutting out a pair of mittens and we used Heat N Bond to adhere them to the onesie.
I had intended to use an iron-on transfer for the text, but decided to go old school and used puffy paint instead.
I used some tan yarn to drape around the boxing gloves and up as if it was draping around the neck of the onesie. I didn’t make it one loop only because I didn’t want to risk the poor kid should it come loose. Safety first!
Courtney made the most adorable baby shower cupcake cake!
And candied sushi! To go along with the “jet-setting” theme, Brandon wanted “Things You Can’t Have While Pregnant”… which, includes sushi!
Courtney put together candy airplanes using a 100 Grand Mini, Twix, two Rolo’s for wheels and a Tootsie Roll for the propeller!
It was complete with paper plane races, “What’s in your diaper?” candy game, baby bottle chugging contest, and some other fun baby shower games. Courtney did a fabulous job and it was so nice to see so many members of my family I rarely get to!
