DIY: Vinyl Mugs

I woke up quite a bit before my alarm this morning and was feeling very energized despite the lack of fitness this weekend (talk about a huge slacker). Perhaps it was the abundance of people I got to see this weekend that made me feel super chipper. I had quite a lot of fun seeing old friends, meeting new friends; celebrating birthdays and upcoming nuptials… and of course, doing a bit of crafting! The majority of my time currently is devoted to the following three things:

  1. Work
  2. Exercise
  3. Etsy

And not always in that order (but most of the time, yes). I haven’t had the chance to just do a craft for myself or even really just sleep. I took a few days off next week to knock out an array of appointments and take the time to just breathe, it’s amazing how sometimes one can just forget to do that, huh? Now, I’m feeling incredibly exhausted and dead to the world, the coffee is just not cutting it this morning.

Anyhoo, I’ve been doing a lot of mugs for the shop and wanted to finally just make one for myself.

A few weeks ago I received a mess of permanent vinyl and have just gotten around to being able to play with it!

The other day I decided my first project was to make a decal for my new water bottle that cost me a whole gold bar. Can someone please explain to me why they are so darn expensive these days? They’re water bottles for crying out loud!

I used a silver permanant vinyl with a curly H from Cricut’s “Quarter Note” cartridge and of course, a quatrefoil… #tsm

Tested it out at the gym: perfect!

I went over to my sorority sisters place yesterday to sit and craft. It’s been a while since we’ve had time to do so! Before, we used to sit in our apartment and craft on the regular, sticking in “Legally Blonde” and filling the living room with paint fumes and the smells of warm brownies. It was nice to be able to sit, chat, craft and catch up!

The quote is one of my favorites from Vincent van Gogh:

“I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.”

I should have made the text a tad bit smaller, but I wasn’t sure how the Cricut would do with cutting smaller letters. I see with the ones at the bottom that it doesn’t do too bad! Next time, I will have to keep that in mind, I’m not a total fan of how large it is, but I love it otherwise! The stars were easy to apply without any vinyl transfer, but in order to keep the text together and cohesive, I used it for that. The only issue I had was the fact that the mug wasn’t a flat surface, so the bottom text got a little wonky due to the mug’s curvature.

Either way, there are so many other ideas for the future products with vinyl! Can’t wait do some more of those!
