DIY: Family Canvas Wall Decor

Happy Wednesday!

I’ve been a blogging slacker for the past few weeks. A few weeks ago I took a “staycation” and decided I was going to focus on me, myself and I. Unfortunately, the social media blogetteĀ side of me also went on holiday and thus, the updates having been occurring regularly: including “Treasury Tuesday”, etc.

So, I missed Mother’s Day a few weeks ago. But I hope you all had a GREAT Mother’s Day and enjoyed it with your kids, mothers, wives, sisters, etc. After taking my nephew to get his driver’s licenseĀ that Friday, we all went out for celebratory froyo. My 5-year-old niece turned to my sister and said “Happy Mothers Day Mom!” and then turned to me and said “Happy Mothers Day Heather!” While I have not physically had children myself, I feel very protective and maternal towards my niece and nephew as well as our pup and all of my little craft projects. So I smiled really big and said “Thanks darlin!”

For my mother, I made a wall decoration that we’ve placed in the kitchen. It has one of my favorite quotes, that I think sums up our family pretty accurately. As she gave me my Cricut for my birthday, I wanted to use it to make her something she could see everyday as a reminder of:

  1. What an awesome daughter I am šŸ˜‰
  2. What a great family we are

We really are and it’s not to say that we haven’t had our ups and downs (and sometimes disownments) but that’s what makes our family so ridiculous and amazing. No matter the hardships, we’ve all stuck together.

It’s true.

Happy December!

IMG_2789Can you believe it’s December already? It seems like the summer was just yesterday! I had intended to put up our new tree after our Thanksgiving feast, however, as you know I was down with the sickness. So we got to put it up yesterday! I have the scars to prove it! I only got as far as putting it together (wrong the first time, they don’t come with instructions anymore, just numbers… HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT?) and putting the ribbon around it before I called it quits for the night.

So today while watching “Christmas Vacation”, possibly my second favorite Christmas movie (after “White Christmas” of course)…

Ok wait. Before I go any further… WAS I THE ONLY ONE NOT AWARE OF THIS?

No, seriously, I feel like a super idiot for not knowing about this.

Anyway, I decided to add ornaments while watching this fabulous piece of american artwork and entertainment. I took a few pics of all the homemade ornaments I made this past year:

These are my favorite as was something my great aunt used to make, we had a blast making these last year.

A new one šŸ™‚

Another new one: stained glass purple, dipped in mod podge and then glitter.

Well, it’s bed time for me! I went back to work today and so glad to be back! I was getting a little bit of cabin fever at home once I realized I had been stuck in the house for five days straight, so I was happy to be back in my home away from home.

I’m DYING to share our last “Craft and Wine Night”! It was a blast and we went to town! Hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday for that one!

Ok, lets get real for a moment. Sandy has officially made landfall just above the Maryland and Delaware shores in southern New Jersey. She has been beating my area with heavy winds and rain thus far and has been completely destroying shore landmarks along our coast. It’s been quite a crazy day and we are super lucky to still have power here inland! *KNOCK ON WOOD* All is still good in my area, except for one thing:

My sanity.

My thought process was to not go out into the craze after Friday night due to all the crazy people doing their last minute preparation. It’s now been three whole days that I have literally been in pajamas (I have changed and showered, I swear), watching ghost movies and shows on Netflix, and crafting. I’m getting the worse case of cabin fever you have ever heard. I literally have gone nuts… literally. I have stormed around the house for about 20 minutes complaining about our lack of kettle cooked barbeque chips and the fact that my mother brought home apple dumplings instead… I dislike dumplings… which thus led me to more distress.

I’m not one to be cooped up for long periods of time… and now my house has started to shake from such high winds. Good lord, lets hope my room, which happens to sit under some very large trees, makes it through the night!

To try and distract myself from my lack of escape (Maryland has literally forbidden us from driving… like at all) I decided to do a best methods post!

To say I have a ton of glass ornaments is an understatement. I blame Michaels for having all these deals where they are concerned and if you haven’t been taking advantage of the 25% off ornaments yet, you are a nutter and should go do so immediately. But now having done a fare share of glitter ornament, I have decided to share my favorite way of decorating them!

DIY: Have a BOOty-full Halloween!

We’re hunkering down and preparing for Sandy. State of emergencies have been issued, people are running amuck through the grocery stores, people are buying the usuals (milk, eggs, water, gas)… and I’m sitting here eating and crafting.

As usual.

It’s crazy to think that within a few days, there will most likely be no leaves left on the trees after a gorgeous fall we’ve been having. THANKS A TON SANDY! So I gift you with these two pictures I have taken on my daily commutes of the awesome country leaves.

Mom’s been making ice bags, keeping water, and having us begin to tie down all of our deck items. I’ve warned the dog that he must get in his outings now while he still can. My dog detests any other weather than gorgeous (smart dog, eh?). He refuses to go out in the rain, he’s much too dainty for that. I can’t imagine how he’s going to handle a few days of insane weather. I can’t imagine how we’re going to handle a few days of insane weather.

It’s definitely going to be an adventure.

With Halloween coming up, you know I have been crafting like crazy. I found a bunch of decorations from last years Halloween in a pumpkin in my cubicle closet and I may or may not have gone a little nuts in decorating it. One of my final crafts for the holiday was my “BOO” sign!

Click below for more!

If I don’t post before Halloween day (most likely would be due to power outages and what not) have a BOOTY-full (as in candy… or boos… or booze… whichever you prefer) Halloween! ā¤
